STMicroelectronics Introduces 1 A Synchronous Buck DC-DC Converter

STMicroelectronics has introduced DCP3601, an easy-to-use synchronous buck DC-DC converter that supports a wide input voltage range and is capable of delivering a load current of up to 1 A. The extended input range is from 3.3 V to 36 V, which makes the device suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

The DCP3601 operates at 1 MHz fixed switching frequency, allowing the use of small inductors for an optimized solution size. Optional switching frequency dithering is also implemented to improve electromagnetic interference (EMI) performances.

The DCP3601 includes a peak current mode architecture and has soft-start circuit, over-current protection circuit, over-temperature protection and output over-voltage protection for safety and reliability. All of the functionalities are packaged in a single SOT23-6L package.

Key Features of DCP3601

  • 88% typical efficiency at 600 mA load (VIN = 24 V, VOUT = 5 V)
  • 91% typical efficiency at 600 mA load (VIN = 12 V, VOUT = 5 V)
