The AEC-Q200 standard is a global qualification that outlines the stress test qualifications for passive electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, and others used in automotive applications. The objective is to ensure that these components can withstand high temperatures, humidity, thermal shocks, and mechanical stresses commonly encountered in automotive applications. It was developed by the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) in the 1990s by Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors.
AEC-Q200 Stress Test Qualification and Revisions
AEC-Q200 standard needs to be updated periodically to include new testing methods, component technologies, and application demands in the automotive industry. The table illustrates the revisions involved.
