LED Driver IC is used to drive the voltage and current of LEDs (which may be connected in series, or parallel combinations) to provide the required illumination. A LED (light-emitting diode) is a PN junction device that emits light when forward biased. It emits light based on the electroluminescence phenomenon. i.e., the emission of light or photons is because of the recombination of electrons and holes.
LED driver ICs are ideal for display backlighting, general-purpose high power lighting, automotive lighting, automotive dashboards, automotive central information displays, automotive navigation systems, retail, office and residential downlights, street, and tunnel lighting, camera flash, LED displays, LED ballasts, medical, and handheld devices applications.
