XP Power Unveils High-Voltage AC-DC Power Supplies for Semiconductor Processing Applications

XP Power has unveiled a new family of high-voltage AC/DC power supplies offering the flexibility and control demanded by semiconductor applications, such as semiconductor processing and high-power e-beam applications.

The compact 750 W 60 kV power devices are particularly suitable for electrical design engineers and system integration engineers working on processes like ion implantation, e-beam welding, and e-beam additive manufacturing, as well as many other high-voltage (HV) application sectors.

Engineers who have little experience with high voltage integration and short project timeframes encounter issues that are addressed by the new FT series. The new devices, which are available in a small 19″ rack 1U container, cut the height of many solutions presently on the market in half, satisfying the growing need for low-profile solutions.

To provide the highest level of flexibility and control, the FT series has models with output voltages up to 60 kV at 750 W in both positive and negative polarities, allowing both current and voltage to be controlled from 0 to 100%. The adjustment from 0 to the rated voltage or current can be performed via the two rotary dials on the front panel, or via analog, RS232, USB, or (optional) Ethernet interface.

Devices from the FT series have up to 90% efficiency levels and include a PFC input stage ensuring a typical power factor (PF) of 0.95 at full load at nominal AC line. Minimizing heat generation and lowering running costs, helps achieve carbon neutrality targets and enables usage in applications that require a small amount of area.

Because of its lower ripple (less than 0.025% RMS of rated voltage at full load), the power supply is perfect for high-performance and high-voltage applications. Featuring air insulation, the FT series has forced air cooling with fan assist and provides protection against overload, short circuits, arc, over temperature, and surge.

The devices’ ability to operate cooler than similar competitor products helps to lower component temperatures, extending its lifetime. When repairs are necessary, air-cooled power supplies can be fixed at the individual component level, saving money, and reducing waste.
