RECOM has announced the extension of features of its popular RACM30-K/277 range of 30 W-rated, low-cost, board-mount AC-DC converters to include an open frame option, designated /OF, at half the weight of the existing potted versions. The RACM30-K/277/OF series can provide 30 W continuous power (up to 36 W peak) in a miniature open-frame format of just 76.2 x 38.1 x 23 mm.
The parts operate over an ambient temperature range from -40°C up to +55°C in free air (depending on variant) and up to +90°C with derating. The Input range is from 85 VAC to 305 VAC (120 V to 430 VDC) to cover all nominal values up to 277 VAC and fully regulated output options are 5 V, 12 V, 15 V, 24 V, +/-12 V, and +/-15 V, rated as ‘limited power source’. Short circuit, over-voltage, and over-current protection are included.
The parts are rated class II insulation and for Over-Voltage Category III (OVC III) and pollution degree 3 (PD3) environments up to 5000 m altitude. Comprehensive safety certifications include audio/video and ICT, test equipment, household, industrial, and MOPP medical, with isolation rated 4 kVAC/1 minute. Eco-design requirements are met for no-load/standby dissipation and efficiency curves are near-flat down to light loads. ‘Class B’ EMC standards are met with a wide margin without external components, even with grounded outputs.
Molex electrical connectors are provided for input and output and mechanical fixings are provided for PCB pillars, for convenient installation in end-equipment. Typical applications for the series include housekeeping power in EV chargers, industrial automation, medical, IoT, lighting, and smart energy systems.
