Flex Power Modules, a leading provider of power solutions, has announced the addition of a quarter-brick, baseplate-cooled DC/DC converter to its impressive product lineup. The new PKM8100A is designed to meet the demands of diverse applications with its ultra-wide 9-75 VDC input range (100 V/100 ms).
Delivering a robust 100 W at up to 89% efficiency, the PKM8100A offers versatility with initial outputs of 12 V/8.35 A or 54 V/1.85 A. The input-to-output isolation rating of 3000 VDC complies with the stringent requirements of IEC/UL 62368-1, ensuring safety and reliability.
Equipped with a host of features, including remote control, output trim, and remote sensing, the PKM8100A prioritizes user convenience. Protection mechanisms, such as over-temperature, input under-voltage lockout, and output over-voltage, along with short circuit safeguards, further enhance the device's durability.
Presented in the industry-standard quarter brick format (57.9 x 36.8 x 12.7 mm) with through-pin connections, the PKM8100A is optimized for ease of integration. Operating up to a maximum baseplate temperature of 110°C, it allows for operation without derating to 85°C ambient with 3 m/s airflow or to 75°C ambient with natural convection when mounted on a cold wall.
Meeting Class B EMC standards (EN 55032, CISPR 32, and FCC Part 15J), the PKM8100A ensures electromagnetic compatibility, complemented by an external input filter with specified component values in the technical specification. High reliability, with a rating of 3.78 Mhrs according to the Telcordia SR-332 standard, issue 3, method 1, at 40°C ambient, underscores the durability of the components.
