AiT Semiconductor, a leading fabless IC design company ISO9001/ISO14001 registered, devoted to the design and marketing analog & mixed signal integrated circuits, has introduced A7122A, a buck(step-down) DC-DC converter that provides synchronous operations for digital cameras, MP3 and MP4 players, set-top boxes, wireless and DSL modems, USB-supplied devices in notebooks, and portable applications.
The A7122A is a high-efficiency, DC-to-DC step-down switching regulator that is capable of delivering up to 2 A of output current. Running at a fixed frequency of 1.3 MHz based on the pulse width modulation (PWM) technique, it allows the use of miniature external components, such as ceramic input and output capacitors, as well as small inductors, while still providing low output ripple voltage.
The device operates over an input voltage range from 2.5 V to 5.5 V and provides an output voltage from 0.6 V to VIN, making it suitable for low voltage power conversions. This low noise output along with its excellent efficiency achieved by the internal synchronous rectifier, making A7122A an ideal green replacement for large power consuming linear regulators.
This converter is also equipped with soft-start control circuitry that potentially reduces inrush current. It integrates short-circuit and thermal-overload protection to improve overall design reliability.
The A7122A is available in a compact SOT-26 and SOT-25 surface-mount package that measures 2.82 x 2.65 mm.
