Kyocera AVX Corporation has introduced its latest innovation, the Miniature 0201 Automotive Multilayer Varistor, catering to the growing demand for compact yet efficient electronic components in automotive applications.
Engineered to meet the rigorous standards of AEC-Q200 qualification, these varistors offer unparalleled performance while occupying minimal board space. The 0201 size and low profile make them ideal for applications where space constraints are critical, such as manifold absolute pressure sensors, camera modules, embedded components, and circuits with limited real estate.
One of the standout features of these varistors is their ability to provide bi-directional electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection in the smallest package available today. Additionally, they offer effective electromagnetic interference/radio-frequency interference (EMI/RFI) filtering in the off-state, further enhancing their utility in demanding automotive environments.
With the AVX 0201 Multilayer Automotive Varistors, designers can achieve a one-chip solution, replacing two diodes and an EMC capacitor, thereby simplifying circuit design and reducing component count. This consolidation not only saves space but also streamlines assembly processes.
Key specifications of the AVX 0201 Multilayer Automotive Varistors include a 9 Vdc working voltage, energy rating of 0.02J, peak current handling capability of 5A, and capacitance of 30pF. They operate reliably within a wide temperature range from -55°C to +125°C, ensuring suitability for automotive applications subjected to varying environmental conditions.
Moreover, these varistors boast excellent lead-free solderability, facilitated by Ni Barrier/100% Sn termination, ensuring robust and reliable connections in manufacturing processes.
