AiT Semiconductor Introduces Integrated Power Switch for USB Power Management

AiT Semiconductor unveiled the A4773, a powerful integrated switch tailored for both self-powered and bus-powered Universal Serial Bus (USB) applications. This cost-effective solution boasts a single P-channel MOSFET load switch with an impressively low 70 mΩ RDS(ON), eliminating parasitic body diodes and any reverse input-output leakage current.

Designed with robust protection mechanisms, the A4773 includes current limiting and thermal shutdown features. These safeguards prevent potential switch failures due to excessive power dissipation from continuous heavy loads or short circuits.

The A4773's integrated FLAG feature provides open-drain output reporting for over-current or over-temperature events, with a deglitch timeout period of 13 ms. Moreover, it promptly flags output reverse-voltage conditions within a 5 ms deglitch timeout period.

Key features

  • Low Quiescent Current: Typical 27 μA
  • Shutdown Current: Typical 0.1 μA
  • Adjustable Current Limit: 400 mA to 2.7 A
  • Fast Over-Current Response
  • High-Side MOSFET with 70 mΩ RDS(ON)
  • Under Voltage Lockout
  • Thermal Shutdown Protection
  • Operating Range: 2.5 V to 5.5 V
  • Built-In Soft-Start Function

Key applications

  • USB Hosts and Self-Powered Hubs
  • USB Bus-Powered Hubs
  • USB Power Management Systems
  • General Purpose Power Switch (High Side)
  • Hot Plug-in Power Supplies
  • Battery Charger Circuits

The A4773 is housed in a SOT-26 package, making it compact and versatile for a range of USB-centric power management scenarios.
