Gaia Converter Introduces Integrated DC-DC Power Supply Unit for Military Applications

Gaia Converter has unveiled its latest offering, the PSDG-48 series, a fully integrated COTS multi-output isolated power supply module designed for demanding military and high-reliability applications. This board mount module is dedicated to 24 & 28 Vdc inputs and boasts a range of features tailored to meet stringent industry standards such as MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1275, ABD100, and DO160.

Key features and specifications

  • Input voltage range: 16 - 60 Vdc
  • High voltage transients handling: up to100 Vdc / 50 ms (MIL-STD-1275), 80 V/100 ms (DO160, MIL-STD-704)
  • Low voltage transient capability: down to 12 V / 1s (MIL-STD-1275 Initial engagement surge)
  • Built-in EMI filter for MIL-STD-461, DO160 compliance
  • Output power configurations: 20 W+20 W+8 W triple or 40 W+0 W+8 W dual independent outputs
  • Output voltage options: 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, 15 V, 24 V
  • Wide operating temperature range: -40°C to +105°C
  • Comprehensive protection features: reverse polarity, hold-up function, high & low input voltage transients, inrush current limit, short circuit, and over-voltage protection

The PSDG-48 series is housed in a rugged black anodized machined aluminum case, measuring 3.6" x 2.1" x 0.35" (91 x 54 x 9 mm), making it suitable for harsh environments and compliant with MIL-STD-202 & 810 for altitude, humidity, temperature shocks & cycles, mechanical vibrations, and shocks.

Optional features include individual outputs On/Off control, switching frequency sync input, startup operating temperature down to -55°C, and screening/serialization capabilities.

With a fixed high-frequency switching topology, the PSDG series offers high power density, low-profile packaging, and exceptional reliability. Its fully encapsulated design with thermally conductive resin ensures optimal power dissipation, achieving up to 87% efficiency.
