Diodes Incorporated has unveiled the AL58263, a new 16-channel constant-current LED driver designed for high-performance applications requiring precise grayscale dimming and robust diagnostics. This innovative driver utilizes Adaptive Pulse Density Modulation (APDM) to mitigate IOUT distortion and enhance refresh rates, making it ideal for indoor and outdoor LED video displays, variable message signs (VMS), traffic signs, outdoor billboard signage, and LCD backlighting.
The AL58263 operates within a 3 V to 5.5 V input voltage range and supports a 15 V output channel voltage, delivering up to 55 mA of high-accuracy current per LED string. The 16-bit grayscale resolution with APDM ensures superior dimming precision, while the integrated diagnostics provide comprehensive error detection and protection, including LED open/short, output port leakage, and short-to-GND/power issues.
Key features of the AL58263 include a fast 25 MHz clock input, ±0.1% output current regulation, 6-bit global current control, and a wide output current range of 2~55 mA/5 V, 2~35 mA/3.3 V. The device also boasts non-scramble waveforms for high-power LED applications, grayscale data synchronization, and EMI reduction capabilities.
Housed in a TSSOP-24EP (Type A1-B) package, the AL58263 is specified for operation over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range. It is fully RoHS compliant, halogen and antimony-free, and suitable for automotive applications requiring AEC-Q100/101/104/200 qualifications and IATF 16949 certified manufacturing facilities.
