RECOM, a leading provider of power solutions, has introduced the enhanced RACM series. With this latest enhancement, RECOM’s very popular RACM series of encapsulated board-mount AC-DC power supplies now includes parts rated at 16 W in a 2 x 1.08 x 0.9 inches (52.7 x 27.6 x 23 mm) package with a flying wire termination option. The range features a wide input range from 85 VAC to 305 VAC covering 100 - 277 VAC nominals, or 120 - 430 VDC for universal applications, and a selection of outputs: 3.3 V (12 W rated), 5 V, 12 V, 15 V, 24 V, or 30 V, all fully regulated with a constant maximum current limit suitable for driving non-linear loads.
The cost-effective RACM16E-K/277 series is certified to IEC 62368, IEC 61558, and EN 60335. For medical applications, the parts hold certification to UL/IEC/EN 60601, rated 2MOPP to 5000m altitude in over-voltage category II (OVCII) environments and 2MOOP to 4000m/OVCIII. The series also meets the patient applied-part BF touch current specification. Conducted EMI limit EN 55032 Class B is met with a floating load and no-load power consumption is less than 100mW to meet eco-design requirements.
With a high and flat efficiency curve to light loads, the series operates over -40°C to +85°C ambient with derating in still air from 60°C or higher depending on the output variant. The parts are rated for pollution degree 2 (PD2) environments and achieve high reliability, with over 1M hours MTBF at 40°C according to MIL-HDBK-217 (GB). Output over-voltage, over-load, and ‘hiccup’ short-circuit protection are included.
