ROHM Semiconductor Introduces SiC Molded Modules for Electric Vehicle Traction Inverters

ROHM has launched four models under the TRCDRIVE pack series, featuring 2-in-1 SiC molded modules (750 V-rated: BSTxxxD08P4A1x4, 1,200 V-rated: BSTxxxD12P4A1x1) optimized for electric vehicle (xEV) traction inverters. These modules, supporting up to 300 kW, offer high power density and a unique terminal configuration, addressing challenges in miniaturization, efficiency, and reduced installation time.

The TRCDRIVE pack leverages a structure that maximizes heat dissipation and incorporates ROHM’s 4th Generation SiC MOSFETs with low ON resistance, achieving industry-leading power density. The modules also feature press fit pins for easy connection and a two-layer bus-bar structure, enhancing performance by reducing losses during switching.

ROHM's comprehensive support includes application-level assistance with in-house motor testing equipment, simulations, and thermal designs. Two evaluation kits are available for testing: one for double-pulse and another for 3-phase full bridge applications.
