Diodes Incorporated is pleased to announce the release of the AL8841Q, a cost-effective and reliable buck LED driver designed for automotive LED lighting. This new product provides a versatile solution for driving single or multiple series-connected LEDs efficiently from a higher voltage source.
The AL8841Q operates from an input supply range of 4.5 V to 40 V and delivers an externally adjustable output current of up to 1 A for the TSOT25 package and 1.5 A for the MSOP-8EP package. The device integrates the power switch, allowing the LED current to be set with an external resistor, and requires only four external components for a simple and compact footprint.
The device features a CTRL pin that accepts either a DC analog voltage signal or a PWM digital signal for easy LED brightness adjustment. Additionally, the CTRL pin can be used to adjust the AL8841Q’s soft-start time via an external capacitor. A voltage of 0.3 V or lower to the CTRL pin stops the switching but does not place the device into low-power standby, providing a faster PWM dimming response compared to the AL8860Q/61Q.
The AL8841Q is available in thermally enhanced MSOP-8EP and small-footprint TSOT25 packages, ensuring efficient thermal management and space-saving designs.
