RECOM Power has launched its latest series of 15 W AC-DC converters, available in both open frame and enclosed versions, designed for flexible mounting options including chassis and DIN-rail installations. The open RACM15E-K/OF models measure 3.1 x 0.9 x 0.8 inches (80 x 23.8 x 22 mm) and feature ‘Molex’ connectors. The enclosed RACM15E-K/PMAD variants come in an IP20-rated enclosure with push-in terminals for easy wire connections, measuring 3.2 x 1.1 x 1.1 inches (83 x 26.4 x 29.5 mm). These converters are optimized for DIN rail applications, fitting within a standard 1.5 module width without spacing restrictions to adjacent modules.
Outputs available are 3.3 V (rated 12 W), 5, 12, 15, 24, and 30 VDC, all fully protected against over-voltage, overload, and short circuits. In overload, the parts have a constant current limit characteristic, suitable for non-linear loads, with a self-resetting ‘hiccup’ mode for short circuits. The operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C, derating from 50°C ambient in still air.
The RACM15E-K series is certified for safety to IEC/EN62368-1, IEC/EN60335-1, IEC 61558, and IEC 60601-1/ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1. In medical applications, the parts are rated 2MOPP in over-voltage category II (OVCII) environments to 5000 m altitude and meet a maximum 100 µA ‘BF’ touch current specifications for applied parts. The parts can also be used in OVCIII environments up to 3000 m according to IEC61558-2-16 and IEC60335-1.
No load current is typically less than 100mW to meet eco-design requirements and conducted EMI standard EN55032 Class B is met with a floating load. The RACM15E-K parts operate with up to 86% efficiency, contributing to their long operating life and high reliability, with an MTBF of over 1M hours according to MIL-HDBK-217, ground benign environment.
