ROHM Semiconductor Unveils Analog-Digital Fusion Control Power Supply Solution

ROHM has launched LogiCoA, a cutting-edge power supply solution designed for small to medium-power industrial and consumer equipment (30 W to 1 kW). This solution combines the functionality of fully digital control power supplies with the low power consumption and cost efficiency of analog power types.

LogiCoA leverages high-performance, low-power MCUs to manage various power supply topologies, fusing digital elements to enhance analog circuit performance. This hybrid approach addresses the limitations of analog-only configurations and the high power consumption and cost of fully digital systems.

Key features

  • Very low profile (0.65 mm typical height)
  • Automated placement suitability
  • Oxide planar chip junction
  • Low forward voltage drop and leakage current
  • Low noise
  • MSL level 1 compliance

Key specifications

  • Operating Voltage: 4.5 V to 5.5 V
  • Temperature Range: -40°C to +105°C
  • Timers: 16-bit with PWM/Capture
  • Comparators: 3-channel
  • A/D Converter: 12-bit, 5-channel
  • D/A Converter: 8-bit, 2-channel
  • CPU: 16-bit RISC, Max. 16 MHz operation
  • Memory: Up to 32 KB Flash, 4 KB Data Flash, 2 KB RAM

Applications for LogiCoA include industrial robots, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, gaming applications, and various consumer devices. The LogiCoA MCU integrates 3-channel analog comparators, timers, A/D and D/A converters, and programmable gain amplifiers.

Evaluation tools, including the REF66009 reference design and LogiCoA001-EVK-001 evaluation board, allow users to explore the functionality of LogiCoA in a non-isolated buck converter circuit. This solution aims to enhance power efficiency, reduce power loss, and support sustainable, compact power supply designs.
