NOVOSENSE Microelectronics has introduced the NSM211x, a series of automotive-grade, completely integrated high-bandwidth, high-isolation current sensors that guarantee accurate current measurement while obviating the necessity for extra isolation components.
The automotive-grade series, to be exhibited at electronica 2024 (Stand B5.450), is designed for applications such as OBC/DC-DC converters, PTCs, automotive motor control, charging station current sensing, and fuel cell systems.
The series is certified to comply with AEC-Q100 Grade 0 reliability standards, engineered for stable operation across a broad temperature range (-40 to 150°C), and caters to AC or DC current detection in automotive applications, featuring high isolation voltage, robust current handling capacity, and exceptional reliability.
The NSM211x series offers a -3 dB bandwidth of up to 1 MHz and a response time of 400 ns, facilitating quick loop control and over-current protection in control systems. The series includes a creepage distance of up to 8.2 mm and an isolation voltage withstand of 5,000 V (RMS) according to UL standards, with a maximum operating isolation voltage of 1,618 V (peak).
It is offered in three packing configurations: SOP8, SOW16, and SOW10. The major side impedance values are 1.2 milli-ohms, 0.85 milli-ohms/1 milli-ohms, and an industry-leading 0.27 milli-ohms, with a continuous current handling capacity of up to 100 A. Each package offers multiple product models.
The modern sensors incorporate inbuilt temperature adjustment algorithms and offline calibration to achieve high measurement accuracy (±2 percent sensitivity error and ±10 mV offset error) throughout the whole temperature range, without requiring further programming. The NSM211x series accommodates power supply voltages of 3.3 V and 5 V, enabling both DC and AC measurements within a range of 5 to 200 A. It includes choices for reference voltage output, over-current protection output, and adjustable over-current protection levels.
