Deutsche Messe has officially announced the opening of submissions for the esteemed HERMES AWARD, with the next edition set to be featured at HANNOVER MESSE 2025. This highly regarded industrial prize will be presented by Germany's Minister of Education and Research, Bettina Stark-Watzinger, on March 30, 2025.
Companies and institutions participating in HANNOVER MESSE are invited to submit their entries for consideration by January 31, 2025. In addition to the HERMES AWARD, Deutsche Messe is also accepting applications for the HERMES Startup Award, aimed at recognizing innovative startups within the industrial sector.
About the HERMES AWARD
Each year, Deutsche Messe honors a company with the HERMES AWARD in recognition of a product or solution that demonstrates a particularly high degree of technological innovation. Only technology solutions that have already proven themselves in industrial practice are eligible for consideration.
An independent jury, chaired by Prof. Holger Hanselka, President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, will evaluate the submissions. The jury will nominate three products each for both the HERMES AWARD and the HERMES Startup AWARD from the pool of entries. The final winners will be determined based on key criteria, including the degree of technological innovation, benefits for industry, the environment, and society, as well as cost-effectiveness and readiness for practical implementation.
2024 HERMES AWARD Winner: Schunk
In the 2024 edition, Schunk was honored with the HERMES AWARD for its innovative 2D Grasping Kit project. This cutting-edge application kit comprises a camera with lens, an industrial PC, AI software, and an application-specific gripper. The project's innovative aspect lies in its generic, AI-based modeling of component variants and the transfer to a smaller training data set, significantly reducing learning times for recognition.
The 2D Grasping Kit excels in varying environmental conditions, maintaining reliable picking and handling of randomly arranged and non-positioned parts from inlet conveyor belts, trays, or preparation tables. Its intuitive user interface enables the automation of repetitive sorting or logistics tasks with minimal investment, enhancing efficiency and reliability in industrial operations.
Call for Submissions
Deutsche Messe encourages companies and institutions to participate in this prestigious award by submitting their most innovative and practically implemented technological solutions. The HERMES AWARD serves as a platform to recognize and promote advancements that drive the industry forward, benefiting not only businesses but also the environment and society at large.
