Murata Introduces Choke Coils for Automotive Differential Interfaces

Murata has announced the launch of its DLM11CN_HH2 Series, a 0504-inch chip common mode choke coil series designed specifically for high-speed differential interfaces in automotive applications. These advanced noise suppression products entered mass production in December 2024.

Meeting Automotive Industry Needs

As advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD) technologies evolve, vehicles are integrating a growing array of sensing and display devices. Applications such as vehicle periphery sensing cameras, LiDAR systems, head-up displays, and LCD speedometers rely on high-speed differential interfaces like LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) and SerDes (Serializer/Deserializer) for transmitting large volumes of image data. Additionally, the increasing demand for USB ports in vehicles highlights the need for compact, efficient noise suppression solutions.

To address these demands, Murata has utilized its proprietary lamination technology to develop a 0504-inch choke coil size, which is smaller than the conventional 0805-inch size. This innovation enables manufacturers to incorporate these components into more compact automotive designs while maintaining high performance in common mode noise suppression for high-speed signals.

Key Features of DLM11CN_HH2 Series

The DLM11CN_HH2 Series includes three models, each tailored to specific impedance and current requirements:

  • DLM11CN500HH2: Offers a common mode impedance of 45Ω (±25%) and supports a rated current of 100 mA.
  • DLM11CN900HH2: Provides a common mode impedance of 90Ω (±25%) with a rated current of 80 mA.
  • DLM11CN201HH2: Features a higher common mode impedance of 200Ω (±25%) and supports a rated current of 60 mA.

All models are AEC-Q200 compliant, ensuring high reliability for automotive applications. They operate within a wide temperature range of -55°C to +125°C, making them suitable for the demanding conditions in vehicles.

The DLM11CN_HH2 Series is ideal for noise suppression in various automotive systems, including:

  • LVDS for LCD panels.
