Weidmuller Introduces AC Surge Voltage Arrester for Interference Suppression

Weidmuller has introduced VPU AC I 3 300.12.5, which is an AC surge voltage arrester designed to effectively reduce the interference coupling that can occur due to transient surge voltages, even significantly below the limits prescribed by insulation co-ordination according to EN 60664-3 / DIN VDE 0110-3. It requires a supply voltage of 230 V/400 V (50/60 Hz) and can handle a continuous input voltage of up to 300 V (AC) (Type III surge category) with a discharge current of less than 50 kA.

Application Circuit for VPU AC I 3 300.12.5

By offering enhanced protection, this arrester will ensure fewer malfunctions when components are installed for power distribution. This surge voltage arrester is tested according to product standard IEC 61643-11 / DIN EN 61643-11 and can be installed in systems according to IEC 61643-12 / VDE 0675-6-12 and IEC 62305-4 / VDE 0185-4. It can withstand a lightning surge current of up to 12.5 kA under test.

This RoHS-compliant surge voltage arrester is available in an IP20-rated screw-mount package that measures 91 x 96.3 x 54 mm. When used in DC applications, this arrester will require a separate fuse of SIBA Type NH2XL aR/aSF DC 1500 V.

Key applications of VPU AC I 3 300.12.5
