Kinetic Technologies has introduced the KTS1865, a low-resistance, high-current load switch that has been optimized to protect USB Standard Power Range (SPR) Type-C ports that sink up to 130 W at 20 V and/or source up to 100 W at 20 V. It requires an input supply range of up to 23 V. This switch includes several robust protection features such as soft-start, over-voltage protection, and “ideal diode” reverse-current protection with fast recovery, short-circuit protection, over-current protection, programmable current limit protection, over-temperature protection, and integrated TVS for IEC surge and ESD protection, ensuring superior reliability against a variety of faulty conditions.
This switch also supports other features, including a POK Safe LDO regulator, fast soft-start mode for USB fast role swap, and active discharge for VBUS. The EN1 and EN2 logic inputs enable/disable the switch and set the sink current (ISINK) vs. source current (ISOURCE) operating mode.
