Allegro MicroSystems has launched the ACS37800 Power Monitoring IC, an advanced solution for real-time power measurement in AC and DC systems. Designed for seamless integration, the ACS37800 eliminates the need for multiple power supplies by operating from the same voltage as the system microcontroller (MCU).
Key Features & Benefits:
Galvanically Isolated Current Sensing: The device utilizes Hall-effect-based sensing for accurate and reinforced isolation without requiring bulky Rogowski coils, current transformers, or shunt resistors.
High Accuracy Power Measurement: The IC provides measurements for active, reactive, and apparent power, as well as power factor, ensuring precise energy monitoring.
Digital Interface (I2C/SPI): The ACS37800 allows easy data access through SPI or I2C interfaces, enabling flexible system integration.
Fast Overcurrent Fault Detection: A dedicated fault pin detects overcurrent conditions within just 5 microseconds, ensuring quick response to electrical anomalies.
Zero-Crossing Detection: Dedicated pins allow for voltage and current zero-crossing detection, enhancing control in AC applications.
Wide Current Sensing Range: The sensor can monitor currents up to 90 A, making it ideal for high-power applications. Low Power Loss & High Inrush Capability: A low-resistance copper conduction path ensures minimal power dissipation and strong inrush current endurance.
Reliability & Certification
Certified under UL 62368-1 (edition 2) for reinforced isolation, the ACS37800 is housed in a SOIC16 wide-body package and comes factory-calibrated, with additional customer calibration options for even greater accuracy.
With its 1 kHz bandwidth, built-in EEPROM for user configuration, and ability to work with floating or non-floating ground systems, the ACS37800 is an optimal choice for applications requiring efficient, real-time power monitoring.
