The S-19193 Series from ABLIC are Battery Monitoring ICs that have been designed for 3-serial to 6-serial rechargeable Li-ion battery packs in automotive applications. They require an input voltage of 4.8-28 V. These battery management ICs (BMICs) also support cascade connection that allows monitoring of 7-serial or more cells. They consist of high-accuracy voltage detection and delay circuits along with a self-test function that confirms over-charge and over-discharge detection operations. These BMICs invert the OUT1 output pin and switch to over-charge detection status when the voltage of any of the batteries exceeds the threshold and continue for the detection delay time. They invert the OUT2 output pin and switch to the over-discharge detection status when the battery voltage falls below the threshold and continue for the detection delay time.
These BMICs allow the delay time to be set only by an internal circuit and do not require external capacitors for the adjustment. They consume less than 20 µA of current during operation for high power efficiency. These ICs are available in a surface-mount package that measures 5.12 x 6.4 mm and are ideal for EV, HEV, and PHEV applications.
