The LTC3337ERC#TRMPBF from Analog Devices is a Primary Battery State of Health Monitoring IC that is ideal for low-power primary battery-powered systems, remote industrial sensors, asset trackers, electronic door locks, keep-alive supplies/battery backup, and smart mesh applications. It requires an input voltage of 1.8 - 5.5 V. This BMIC is designed to be connected in series with a primary battery that offers a minimal associated series voltage drop. It includes a built-in patented infinite dynamic range coulomb counter that collects all accumulated battery discharge and stores it in an internal register, which can be accessed via an I2C interface.
This battery monitoring IC offers a programmable discharge alarm that generates an interrupt signal upon reaching the threshold charge, thereby providing an accurate coulomb counting operation. It integrates an additional health monitoring capability to measure and report battery voltage, battery impedance, and temperature via the integrated I2C interface, making it useful for applications that utilize a stack of two supercapacitors at the output. This RoHS-compliant BMIC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 2 x 2 mm.
