The LTC4052EMS8E-4.2 from Analog Devices is a Standalone Pulse Charger with integrated MOSFET designed for 1-cell lithium-ion batteries. It requires an input voltage of 4.5 - 10 V and an input current of 1.4 mA. This charger does not require a microcontroller, MOSFET, or a blocking diode. It includes an external sense resistor that provides over-current limiting as a safety precaution against a user connecting a wall adapter with the incorrect or no current limit. This battery charger features a programmable charge termination timer for maximum capacity charging. It offers a float voltage accuracy of ±1% and near end-of-charge (C/10) detection output.


This Li-ion charger has a low battery drain when the input supply is removed, driving the charger into sleep mode. It features an automatic trickle charge for low battery, automatic battery refresh, and thermal shutdown protection. This charger is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3 x 3 mm and is ideal for handheld computers, cellular telephones, and cradle charger applications.
