The GLF73610-CE23C from GLF Integrated Power is an Optimized Smart Battery Protection IC that is ideal for Bluetooth low energy (BLE) wireless headphones, hearing aid, smart IoT devices, and wearable applications. It requires an input voltage of up to 6 V. This IC is based on a patent-pending circuit architecture that consists of a main switch, control logic, slew rate-controlled driver, and other protection circuitries. It has been designed to protect Lithium-ion/Polymer batteries from potential short-circuit and over-discharge events and keeps the rechargeable battery working within safe operating limits. This protection IC opens the switch in a preset delay time when the battery is charged beyond the over-voltage protection level, and turns OFF the discharging switch when the battery voltage decreases below the over-discharge detection voltage level, thereby saving the battery current consumption. It also turns OFF when the load current reaches the short-circuit protection level, avoiding serious damage to the system.
The GLF73610-CE23C utilizes the short-circuit delay time to also avoid any false trigger that might open the switch. It integrates a shipping mode pin to prevent smart devices with a non-removable battery from discharging during the shipping period. The battery protection IC is available in a wafer-level package that measures 0.97 x 0.97 x 0.55 mm.
