The MP26124 from Monolithic Power Systems is a DC-DC Stepdown Lithium-Ion Battery Charger IC that is ideal for clean robots, drones, and chargers for 4-Series cell Li-ion battery applications. It requires an input voltage of 18 - 24 V and delivers an output current of 2 A. This BMIC includes charge control logic, TC/CC charge comparator, programmable timer, comparator, LDO regulator, voltage reference, flip-flop, MOSFET driver, current limit comparator, and a high-side power MOSFET. It utilizes peak current-mode control for fast loop response and easy compensation and integrates a sense resistor to control the programmable charge current with two control loops to accurately regulate the charge current and charge voltage.

This RoHS-compliant BMIC offers multiple fault condition protections including cycle-by-cycle over-current protection (OCP), battery temperature monitoring and protection, charge status indication, a programmable timer to stop the charging, and a thermal shutdown protection (TSP) to prevent over-current and over-heating related damages. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 4 x 4 mm.
