The BD14000EFV-C from ROHM Semiconductor is a Cell Balancer LSI IC that has been designed as a self-controlled cell balancer with a built-in shunt-type power storage element balancer function that can respond to 4 - 6 cells. It requires an input voltage of 8 - 24 V. This BMIC can be used for electric double-layer capacitors (EDLC) with a cell detection voltage range of 2.4 V to 3.1 V and power storage capacitors, which is an important criterion for cell balancers with similar electrical characteristics. It has a built-in multiple over-voltage detection function and can also detect abnormal modes such as characteristic deterioration in cells with multiple chip series connections. This AEC-Q100-qualified BMIC has an Enable control pin for application-dependent operation. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 10 x 7.6 x 1 mm and is ideal for renewable energy power storage for automotive, production machinery, building machinery, UPS, and other power supply applications.
