The BD99950MUV from ROHM Semiconductor is a Synchronous Narrow Voltage Direct Current Charger that can be remotely controlled using a built-in SMBus interface. This charger requires an input voltage of 6 - 24 V. It has N-channel MOSFETs available for battery or adapter selection via internal charge pumps. This battery management IC (BMIC) offers fast DPM transient response under turbo mode and linear mode trickle charge via BGATE charge pump. It has a low operating current BGATE charge pump at 17 µA and a multi-layer ceramic output capacitor. This BMIC offers high light load efficiency for Energy Star and ErP Lot6 and fast load current transient response under no battery or dead battery conditions. It incorporates an NMOS-NMOS synchronous step-down controller and has a programmable switching frequency from 600 kHz to 1.2 MHz.
This BMIC has a programmable charge voltage (16 mV resolution), charger current (64 mA resolution), input current (64 mA resolution), and minimum system voltage (64 mV resolution). It features an integrated loop compensation and battery learn function. This BMIC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3.5 x 3.5 x 1.0 mm and is ideal for ultrabook, notebook PC, ultra-mobile PC, and tablet PC applications.
