The STC4054GR from STMicroelectronics is a Single Cell Li-Ion Battery Charger that has been designed for single-cell Li-Ion batteries. It requires an input voltage of 4.25 - 6.5 V. This IC does not require a MOSFET, external sense resistor, or blocking diode, which makes it suitable for compact portable applications. It can charge single-cell lithium-ion batteries directly from a USB port. This battery management IC (BMIC) provides a charging current of 800 mA, which can be adjusted using an external resistor. It terminates the charging cycle when the current flowing to the battery is 1/10th of the programmed value. 

This battery management IC controls charging operation based on a constant current/constant voltage scheme and also supports thermal regulation to maximize the charge rate, without the risk of overheating. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 2.9 x 2.8 mm and is ideal for cellular telephones, PDAs, Bluetooth applications, and battery-powered applications.
