The LTC3785EUF#PBF from Analog Devices is a High-Power Synchronous Buck-Boost Controller that has an input and output voltage of 2.7 - 10 V. It delivers an output current of up to 10 A and has an efficiency of up to 96%. This buck-boost controller is based on a single inductor architecture that can drive all N-channel power MOSFETs from input voltages above, below, and equal to the output voltage without the need for a current-sensing resistor, making it suitable for a wide variety of single or dual-cell Li-Ion or multicell alkaline/NiMH applications. It has a programmable current limit, soft-start, and operating frequency that improves its flexibility and longer service life. This controller incorporates protection features such as foldback current limit, short circuit, and overvoltage protection with a selectable burst mode operation which disconnects the output during shutdown and faulty events. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 4 x 4 mm and is ideal for palmtop computers, handheld instruments, wireless modems, and cellular telephone applications.
