The LTM4607 from Analog Devices is a Switching Mode Buck-Boost Power Supply that converts an input voltage of 4.5 - 36 V to an output voltage of 0.8 - 24 V. It provides an output current of 5 A (boost mode) and 10 A (buck mode) and has an efficiency of 98%. This converter consists of a switching controller, power FETs, and other supporting components such as an inductor, a sense resistor, and input/output capacitors. It is housed in a low-profile package that enables utilization of unused space on the bottom of PC boards for high-density point-of-load regulation. This converter provides high switching frequency and integrates current mode architecture, thereby resulting in very fast transient response to line and load changes without sacrificing stability. It also uses an external clock to synchronize the frequency and reduce undesirable frequency harmonics.
This RoHS-compliant power supply is equipped with over-voltage protection (OVP) and foldback current protection circuitries for safety and reliability. It is available in a small thermally-enhanced surface-mount package that measures 15 x 15 x 2.8 mm and is ideal for networking equipments, industrial/automotive equipments, high-power battery-operated equipments, server, and telecom applications.
