The MIC2592B-2YTQ from Microchip Technology is a Dual-Slot PCI Express Hot Plug Controller IC that has been optimized to support the power distribution requirements for peripheral component interconnect express (PCI Express) Hot-Plug compliant system applications. It requires an input voltage of 3.0 - 13 V. This eFuse IC offers complete power control support for two PCI Express slots, including the 3.3 VAUX defined by the PCI Express standards. This eFuse IC uses an SMBus interface via which the complete status of each slot is provided. It supports 3.3 V, 3.3 VAUX, and +12 V supplies as per PCI Express specification v1.0a with integrated power MOSFETs for 3.3 V rails and standby operation for wake-on-LAN applications with low back-feed on main +12 V and +3.3 V rails.
This eFuse IC consists of power MOSFETs for 3.3V AUX rails and two general-purpose input pins suitable for interface to logic and switches. It integrates programmable constant-current in-rush limiting, voltage supervision, programmable current limit, the electronic circuit breaker for each supply to each slot, dual level fault detection for quick fault response without nuisance tripping, and thermal isolation between circuitry for Slot A and Slot B to prevent over-load, over-temperature, and short-circuit-related damages. The RoHS-compliant IC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 9.00 x 9.00 mm and is ideal for in-rush current-limiting applications.
