The MP5021BGQV from Monolithic Power Systems is a Hot-Swap Protection eFuse IC that is designed to protect circuitry on its output from transients on its input. It requires an input voltage of 4.8 - 16 V. This eFuse IC features an external capacitor to control the slew rate at the output. It integrates a 7 milli-ohms power FET whose gate is driven by an internal charge pump. This eFuse IC includes an IMON option to produce a voltage proportional to the current through the power device. It includes an optional discharge function that provides a discharge path for the external output capacitor when the part is disabled. This eFuse IC benefits from output current measurement with a ±5% current monitor accuracy. It consists of current limit protection, thermal shutdown, and damaged MOSFET detection. This eFuse IC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3 x 5 mm and is ideal for hot-swap laptops and PC card applications.
