The Si8220BB-IS from Skyworks Solutions is an Automotive Qualified ISO Driver for optocoupler drivers, such as the HCPL-3120 and the HPCL-0302 providing a peak output current of 2.5 A. It requires an input voltage of 6.5 - 24 V. This gate driver includes an integrated opto input, LED emulator, isolator: RF transmitter, semiconductor-based isolation barrier, and RF receiver, under-voltage lockout (UVLO) protection. It utilizes Skyworks Solutions' proprietary silicon isolation technology which offers multiple RMS withstanding voltages such as 2.5, 3.75, or 5.0 kV as per the UL1577 flame-retardant standard. This gate driver’s proprietary technology enables higher performance, reduced variation with temperature and age, tighter part-to-part matching, and superior common-mode rejection compared to existing optoisolated drivers.
