The Si82Ax Series from Skyworks Solutions are Automotive-Qualified, Single-Channel Isolated Gate Drivers that are suitable for driving power silicon MOSFETs and IGBTs used in various switched power and motor control applications. They require an input voltage of 3-20 V. These drivers are built using automotive-specific flows at all steps in the manufacturing process to ensure robustness and low defectiveness in automotive applications. They are available either in single-output or split-output configurations and the split-output design allows for independent control of the output rise and fall times. These AEC-Q100-qualified gate drivers accept CMOS input, which provides a robust noise margin. They utilize Skyworks’ proprietary Silicon isolation technology that offers an isolation voltage of up to 6 kV (RMS) for 1 minute, along with lower propagation delays (less than 40 ns) and skew and tight part-to-part matching.
The output stage of these gate drivers operates as a voltage source with robust output current across operating conditions. This stage features voltage-mode drive technology using a familiar current-limiting resistor, allowing power designers to optimize for switching speed, emissions control, and over-shoot limitation. These RoHS-compliant gate drivers also include under-voltage lockout (UVLO), input overlap protection, and defined output states in all operating conditions to offer safety to the ICs. They are available in surface-mount packages that measure 4.80 x 5.80 mm and are ideal for UPS inverters, onboard chargers, solar (PV) inverters, energy storage systems, and motor drive applications.
