The STGAP2SiCD from STMicroelectronics is a Dual Gate Driver IC that is designed to provide galvanic isolation between each gate driving channel and low voltage control and interface circuitry for SiC MOSFETs. It requires an input voltage of 3.1 - 5.5 V. The output pins integrated into this driver allow for independently optimizing both turn-on and turn-off times using dedicated gate resistors while the Miller CLAMP function prevents gate spikes during fast commutations in half-bridge topologies. It has an interlocking function that can be configured using an appropriate pin, thereby allowing independent and parallel operation of the two gate channels. This driver IC prevents outputs from being high at the same time to avoid shoot-through conditions in the case of wrong logic input commands. It provides high PWM control accuracy by limiting the input-to-output propagation delay to 75 ns.
The gate driver integrates dedicated SD and BRAKE pins, under voltage lockout (UVLO) and thermal shutdown to ensure protection and easily design high-reliability systems. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 15.60 x 10.65 x 2.65 mm and is ideal for motor drivers for industrial drives, factory automation, home appliances, and fans, 600/1200 V inverters, battery chargers, induction heating, welding, UPS, power supply units, DC-DC converters, and power factor correction applications.
