The AL5887 from Diodes Incorporated is a 36-channel Programmable RGB LED driver IC that is ideal for RGB LED lighting, architectural lighting, industrial LED lighting, smart home appliances, and wearable, and handheld applications. It requires an input voltage of 2.7 - 5.5 V and a supply current of up to 9 mA. This driver IC consists of a digital core, 12-bit 30 kHz pulse width modulation (PWM) logic, 6-bit global setting function, current reference setting, oscillator, LDO regulator, LEDs, diagnostics, and protection circuitries. It is ideal for 12 RGB LED module lighting applications with 3 programmable banks (A, B, C) that can be used to remotely control the brightness. This driver IC uses an external resistor to set the global output current limit for all 36 channels. It includes a 30 kHz, 12-bit PWM generator for each channel, as well as channel/module-independent color mixing and brightness control registers to enable vivid LED effects with zero audible noise.
