The IS32FL3749-TQLA3-TR from Lumissil Microsystems is a 24 x 4 Local Dimming Matrix LED Driver that is ideal for mini LED backlight, automotive, LED backlight, automotive, center information display, and automotive cluster display applications. This LED driver requires an input voltage of 3 - 5.5 V and provides an output current of 60 mA (per channel). It consists of a PWM generator, VSB and SPI serial interfaces, logic processing, spread spectrum-driven oscillator, switch control, LDO regulator, current reference, current sink, scaling, GCC, power PMOS switch, and protection circuitries. This driver integrates 24 high-voltage constant current channels and supports up to 4 power scans, resulting in a 24 x n (n is from 1 to 4) matrix configuration. It modulates the pulse width of the input signal using the PWM technique to provide a smooth LED brightness control operation. This LED driver also uses an 8-bit output current control register (Dot correction, current scale, SL) to fine-tune the current for rich RGB color mixing. It also uses proprietary algorithms to minimize power bus noise caused by passive components on the power bus.
This TSCA-compliant matrix LED driver can control all the registers via the video series bus (VSB) or SPI serial interface. It can be turned OFF with minimum current consumption by either pulling down the voltage at the SDB pin or by using the software shutdown feature. The driver provides a stable power supply voltage of 4.8 V using the built-in LDO regulator and also includes an option to externally power the internal logic. It offers channel-to-channel timing skew to reduce transient noise along with a programmable detection of open/short, PSW short-circuit protection, and over-temperature protection (OTP) to prevent over-current or over-heating-related damages. This RoHS-compliant LED driver is available in a thin surface-mount package that measures 7 x 7 mm.
