The MIC3202YME from Microchip Technology is a Constant-Current, High-Brightness LED Driver that has been designed for lighting applications requiring a wide input voltage range. It requires an input voltage of 6 - 37 V. This LED driver benefits from hysteretic control that gives good supply rejection and fast response during load transients and pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming. It uses high-side current sensing and an on-chip current-sense amplifier to deliver LED current with an accuracy of ±5%. This LED driver uses an external high-side current-sense resistor to set the output current. It offers a dedicated PWM input that enables a wide range of pulsed dimming.
This LED driver supports high-frequency switching operation of up to 1MHz and allows the use of smaller external components, minimizing space and cost. It offers a frequency dither feature for low-EMI noise applications. This driver IC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 5.99 x 4.93 x 1.55 mm and is ideal for architectural, industrial, and ambient lighting, LED bulbs, indicators, and emergency lighting, channel letters, 12 V lighting systems (MR-16 bulbs, under-cabinet lighting, garden/pathway lighting), street lighting applications.
