The AEM00330 from e-peas is a Buck-Boost Ambient Energy Manager Battery Charger that is designed to extract DC power from an ambient energy harvesting source to simultaneously supply an application and store the energy in a storage element. This energy management battery charger extends battery lifetime by eliminating the primary energy storage element in a wide range of applications. It has a selectable input voltage from 145 mV-2.5 V and is optimized for intermittent and pulsed power. This PMIC uses its unique cold-start-up circuit to harvest from an input voltage as low as 275 mV and can handle an input power of up to 3 micro-watts. It has a selectable load voltage of 1.2 to 3.3 V. The PMIC preset protection levels that determine storage element voltages to avoid over-charging and over-discharging the storage element. It consists of a dual cell super-capacitor balancing circuit, one 10 micro-henry inductor, and 10 and 15 micro-farad capacitors. This PMIC is available as a surface-mount package that measures 5 x 5 mm and is ideal for indoor access systems, smart wearable sensors, smart switches for home/building, and Point of Sales (POS) applications.
