The ICC80QSG from Infineon Technologies is a Voltage Mode Flyback Controller IC that is designed for flyback topologies to achieve high efficiency of power transfer over a wide operating range. It requires an input voltage of up to 26 V. This PMIC operates in Quasi-Resonant Mode (QRM) with continuous conduction mode (CCM) and valley switching discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) under mid-to-light load conditions. It regulates the secondary side of the circuit to provide battery charging current control and ensures both high efficiency and low electromagnetic interference (EMI), thereby resulting in superior performance. This power management IC offers a reduced gate driver output voltage during burst mode operation under light loads to provide lower standby power consumption.
The ICC80QSG offers an adjustable on-time mapping at valley changing position, which results in a maximum operating switching frequency and an adjustable maximum on-time to limit input power and current, thereby allowing a safe operation under low line conditions. The PMIC is equipped with built-in over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), over-temperature protection (OTP), and brown-in, and brown-out protection circuits to prevent saturation or short-circuit-related damages. It is available in a module that measures 5 x 6 mm and is ideal for adapters, printers, PC, TV, monitor, set-top box, audio amplifier systems up to 130 W, and battery charging applications.
