The SI34062-GM from Skyworks Solutions is an IEEE 802.3at-Compliant Power-Over-Ethernet IC that integrates all power management and control functions required in a power-over-ethernet (PoE) powered device (PD) application. It requires an input voltage of 2.7 - 57 V. It delivers an output power of up to 15 W. This IC converts high voltage supplied over the 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet connection to a regulated, low-voltage output supply. It is based on an optimized architecture that minimizes the footprint and external bill of materials (BOM) cost. This PoE IC’s current mode-controlled switching regulator supports isolated or non-isolated flyback and buck converter topologies. It uses an external resistor to tune the switching frequency of the regulator and helps avoid undesirable harmonics for better emission control.
This PoE PD IC consists of standard external resistors to provide the proper IEEE 802.3 signatures for the detection function and programming of the classification mode. It includes internal startup circuits to ensure well-controlled soft-start initial operation of the hot-swap switch and the voltage regulator. This IC also supports sleep modes with a wake function and LED drive capabilities to minimize standby current and control the sleep and wake states of the IC. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 5 x mm and is ideal for lighting luminaries, voice-over-IP telephones, security and surveillance IP cameras, and networking device applications.
