The AP22919Q from Diodes Incorporated is an Automotive-Qualified Load Switch IC that has been designed to simplify automotive system power management and sequencing operations. It requires an input voltage of 1.6-5.5 V and provides an output current of up to 1.5 A. This load switch integrates a 90 milli-ohms (drain-source on-resistance) MOSFET at the high side to provide cost-effective power management for light-load applications. It offers a short-circuit response time of 2 µs to prevent unnecessary system shutdown or restart, thereby improving the overall robustness.

This compact automotive-qualified load switch uses a smart pull-down resistor at the Enable pin that keeps the IC in the OFF condition until the processor wakes up, which ensures that the system starts up under a known condition. It also has a quick output discharge (QOD) function pin that can be used to discharge the output capacitor to ensure that the system starts up in a known state. This load switch IC is available in a surface-mount package and is ideal for infotainment, button backlighting, body/zonal control, electronic cluster displays, and ADAS applications.
