The MWCT1001AVLH from NXP Semiconductors is an Automotive Qualified Wireless Transmitter Controller that has been designed to support the latest WPC Qi specifications. It delivers an output power of 5 W. This AEC-Q100-qualified transmitter coil manages the power transfer by receiving commands from the receiver (mobile device). It uses standard protocol methods or Freescale touch sensor technology to detect the receivers that need to be powered. The coil controls the power transfer by adjusting the rail voltage or phase shift of the power stage according to the message packets sent by the mobile device. It supports any coil topology capable of supporting WPC-Qi-based implementation, thereby maximizing design freedom and product differentiation.

This charging coil integrates CAN, LIN, I2C, SCI, and SPI interfaces for communication and control, and also has an LED to provide status indications. It includes over-voltage protection, over-current protection, over-temperature protection, and foreign object detection (FOD) to prevent over-heating or short-circuit-related damages. This coil is available in a surface-mount package and is ideal for automotive wireless power transfer applications.
