Flex Power Modules introduces its first two-phase voltage regulator module, the BMR510 to empower AI Industry. The BMR510 operates with a continuous total output current of 80 A and is capable of delivering a total of 140 A peak output at 0.5-1.3 V from an input of 4.5-16 V.
At less than 0.7 cubic cm (10 x 9 x 7.6 mm) the module provides a complete power stage, including magnetics, for a highly-specified voltage regulator module in space-constrained applications. Target end-use is to power silicon devices such as CPUs, GPUs, IPUs, high-end FPGAs, and high-performing ASICs with a current demand of over 100 A, commonly found in the latest AI applications.
The halogen-free BMR510 is optimized for top-side cooling and features LGA or optionally solder-bump terminations for easy assembly. Over-temperature and over-current protection are included, and values are sensed for remote monitoring. An enable input is provided and the module will accept tri-state PWM inputs.
Thermal models are available for the part to enable effective integration in the target application. The BMR510 will be released for production in Q1/22 and samples are available now.
The 2-phase BMR510 will be the first of many new VRMs from Flex Power Modules. Future devices will offer different variations of the total number of phases, available output current, and footprints, to support both current and next-generation CPUs and GPUs.
Olle Hellgren, Product Manager at Flex Power Modules comments “We have targeted the BMR510 at power-hungry silicon in products with tight space constraints but without performance compromise. It’s an ideal power component for high-end applications such as AI, Big Data, and autonomous vehicles”.
