Intelligent power modules (IPMs) represent a class of power semiconductors outfitted with an integrated IGBT drive circuit and protection mechanism. They find applications in inverters and servo systems, where voltage and frequency control are achieved through power semiconductor switching. However, the act of switching power semiconductors on and off generates power loss and electromagnetic noise.
