Recom Power, a leading provider of power conversion products, has extended its successful REC5K series with -RW versions in an industry-standard DIP24 plastic package. This cost-effective REC5K-RW operates over a 4:1 input range (9 - 36 VDC) with a single, low-noise regulated 5V output, rated at 1A for the input of 18 - 36 VDC. At 12 - 18 VDC input, 4A is available, and at 9 - 12 VDC input, 3A is available. Operation is from -40°C to 110°C ambient, with derating at the higher temperatures.
Certifications include IEC/EN/UL 62368-1; the part has isolation rated at 4kV/1 second and 2kVAC/1 minute. The conducted EMC ‘Class B’ level can be met with a simple external input filter. An operation to 5000m altitude is possible in a pollution degree 2 (PD2) environment, and reliability is high at more than 1.7MHrs according to MIL-HDBK-217F (Ground Benign).
The REC5K-RW is protected against input under-voltage and output short circuits and includes a remote on/off control to put the part into a standby state drawing typically just 3mA. The REC5K-RW is rated for high temperatures and is ideal for demanding applications such as industrial, where a high-performance, wide-input, and reliable part.
