The ADM1172-1AUJZ-RL7 from Analog Devices is a Hot Swap Controller eFuse IC that is ideal for line cards, raid systems, industrial high-side switches/circuit breakers, and electronic circuit breaker applications. This eFuse IC requires an input voltage of 2.7 - 16.5 V. It employs an external N-channel power MOSFET with an integrated current control loop to monitor the load current through a sense resistor, thereby allowing the printed circuit board to be safely removed and inserted into a live backplane. The eFuse IC has an internal charge pump to drive the gate terminal of the N-channel FET. It reduces the gate voltage of the FET to limit the current flowing through the sense resistor when an over-current condition is detected. 

This eFuse IC features a power-fail comparator by which the voltage on the PFI pin is compared with an internal reference and the output of the comparator is presented on the PFO pin. It has built-in under-voltage lockout (UVLO) protection to prevent false triggering. This eFuse IC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 2.90 x 2.80 x 1.00 mm.
