The 1EDI3035AS from Infineon Technologies is an Automotive-Qualified Single-Channel, Isolated Gate Driver IC that is suitable to drive the IGBT + SiC HybridPACK Drive G2 Fusion module. It requires an input voltage of 3-5.5 V (primary), 13.5-20 V (secondary), and from -6 V to 0 V (negative supply). This gate driver consists of a primary logic, secondary logic, input stage, switching (control and monitoring) for the output stage, protection circuitries, and interfaces for built-in A/D converter. It uses Infineon’s coreless transformer technology and galvanically insulates the low- and high-voltage domains by a voltage of up to 8 kV. This gate driver IC’s primary logic is driven by a pulse width modulated (PWM) input signal and the output stage provides an output current of up to 20 A (peak). This stage provides a split output configuration, supporting different slew rates for switching between the ON and OFF states.
This AEC-Q100-qualified gate driver has a propagation delay of 60 ns and a pulse width of 150 ns to offer a high switching frequency while maintaining minimum distortion of the PWM signal. It is equipped with safety functions supporting up to ASIL B standard – gate monitoring, shoot-through protection, power supply monitoring, and desaturation protection. This RoHS-compliant gate driver integrates a DATA interface that provides a detailed error diagnosis and uses the PWM signal to read the data from the A/D converter. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 10.3 x 7.5 x 2.65 mm and is ideal for traction inverters and auxiliary inverters in hybrid electric vehicles and full electric vehicles.
